Karnataka CM congratulates Balachander


Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa congratulated renowned producer, writer and director, K. Balachander for the Dadasaheb Phalke Award win in 2010.

"Balachander landowner has contributed to the Kannada, Tamil,Telugu and Hindi film sector, not only as an ace director but also asa novelist and dialogue. He has the distinction of leading the introduction of many actors. All the films presented a subtlemessage to the public. befits that India is the highest award in the cinema, Dadasaheb Phalke award is conferred on him,"Yeddyurappa said in a statement.

Balachander was elected Dadasaheb Phalke Award for outstanding contributions to the growth and development of Indian cinema. The award, given to the recommendations of the committee of eminent persons, consists of swarn Kamal, cashprize of Rs. 10 lakhs and a shawl.

Announced by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, award will be presented by President Pratibha Patil at the National FilmAwards this year. Dates have not yet been announced.
