Today on my lunch break, I popped into Banana Republic for some "window shopping." But my intentions of looking but not buying flew out of window when I spotted this Cotton Essential Skirt. The gathered, elastic waistband is so adorable, it pretty much dictates that you tuck in the top you pair it with; it's such a fantastic detail, it almost serves as a belt. The inverted pleat in front is another nice touch. And the pockets...well, they pretty much sold me on this skirt. I love anything with pockets.
What I love most about this piece is its verastility. Wear it with a silk blouse, kitten heels and pearls for an office-appropriate ensemble. Or top it off with a simple tank and slip on some gladiator sandals for an urban chic look.
Though it pained me to pay full price for this skirt (I have a magnetic attraction to sale racks and keep coupons on my person at all times), I couldn't bring myself to loosen my kung fu grip and return it to the display table. So now it's hanging in my closet...at least until tomorrow. I can't wait any longer to wear it. And after I get paid, I might return to the scene of the crime and pick up another one - in Mountain Blue.
This photo really doesn't do it justice. Let's just say that when I brought the skirt back to the office and showed off my new find, two of my co-workers were talking about making a beeline for Banana Republic.
