Emmys 2009 Beauty: Blake Lively

For the 2009 Emmy Awards, celebrity hairstylist Renato Campora was inspired by the modernity and elegance of Blake Lively's red Versace gown. He created a goddess style, braided updo using products by Frederic Fekkai.

To get the look, Renato started out by applying Fekkai Coiff Strong Hold Volume Mousse onto wet hair. Next he blow-dried the hair smooth and applied the Fekkai Coiff Extra Control Styling Gel to prep the hair. He then teased all the hair and pulled it up into a high ponytail. By adding some hair extensions to the ponytail, he created extra length for a more dramatic look.

Afterward, he braided the entire ponytail and fastened at the end. Campora finished by applying Fekkai Coiff Magnifique Ultra-Light Finishing Creme throughout the entire look for a smooth and sleek effect.

I Wanna Rock: Vera Wang Rock Princess

Earlier this year, Vera Wang added a new heir to the Princess throne.

Rock Princess - with notes of peach, raspberry, bergamot, heliotrope, rose, jasmine, lily, cashmere wood, musk, iris and coconut - is like Princess' badass lil sis.

I don't know why Gossip Girl's Taylor Momsen isn't the face of this fragrance. I can totally picture her misting it on post-kohl eyeliner and pre-leather jacket.

Limited time beauty bonus: Buy the 3.4 oz Rock Princess Eau de Toilette Spray at Sephora.com and receive a free Rock Princess gift set. Enter promo code ROCKPRINCESS at checkout.

Recessionista's Fabuless Pick of the Week: eos Lip Balm Smooth Spheres

If the thought of sticking your bacteria-laden fingers in a pot of lip balm/gloss doesn’t appeal to you, I have an excellent (and economical) solution.

New Lip Balm Smooth Spheres from eos have this cool, ergonomic packaging that bridges the gap between high-end lip balms and chapsticks. And the USDA certified organic formula is enriched with hydrating ingredients (Vitamin A, shea butter, and jojoba oil). Available in three delish flavors (Summer Fruit is my fave…and it’s pink, natch), these balms will only set you back a couple of bucks.

I love 'em. Chuck Bass loves 'em. You (and your wallet) are gonna love 'em too!

Lip Balm Smooth Spheres are now available at evolutionofsmooth, drugstore.com and will soon be available at Walgreens (July), Rite Aid (July), SpaceNK (August) and Duane Reed (August).

MTV Movie Awards 2009 Makeup: Leighton Meester

For the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, CoverGirl makeup artist Molly R. Stern created a sexy and edgy look for Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester. "She wanted to look like herself while celebrating the rock ’n roll spirit of the night," says Molly.

"I started by basing her skin with Cle de Peau's new Cream Foundation in O20. For her blush, I used Shiseido's Accentuating Powder Blush in Glistening Brown."

"On her eyes, I based them with Vincent Longo's Liquid Eyeshadow in Midnight Mauve. Over that, on the inside lid into the crease, I dusted NARS Night Clubbing glittery powder eyeshadow. Inside her eye both bottom and top, I lined her eyes with CoverGirl Exact Eyelights Brightening Liner in Vibrant Pearl (NEW from CoverGirl, hitting shelves in late July!!). Her mascara is CoverGirl LashBlast Luxe in Black Emerald. And to finish the look, she is wearing CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain in Cinnamon Smile."

Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester Goes Blonde

Did you know that Leighton Meester was a blonde before auditioning for Gossip Girl? She dyed her hair before scoring the career-launching role of Blair Waldorf, Queen Bee of NYC’s Upper East Side. “That's a big deal but I'm glad I did”, Leighton once said.

But, from the looks of these recent pics, Leighton has gone back to her roots.

So how do we like our beloved Blair as a blonde?

Spotted: Blake Lively on the Cover of Vogue

OMFG! Blake Lively is Vogue's February cover girl. Lively looks absolutely lovely, channeling old Hollywood a la Veronica Lake.

"The fashion is just unbelievable. You can watch our show on mute and be entertained," Lively says. And she's not overstating it. The characters wear designer clothes that teeter between unattainable chic and self-parody, be it Bass's wearing a tuxedo covered with paillettes that shimmer like a matador's suit or Blair's attending the dean's party at Yale with an Alice-in-Plunderland pewter-colored satin bow in her hair. For her part, Lively is entranced by Serena's authentically local look. "Just being here, walking around, you pick it up really quickly," she explains. "In New York, you put on skinny jeans and riding boots and a leather coat and handbag, and you take on that posture and character," Lively says. "It becomes very natural." Lively's natural style? Costume National boots, dark Rag & Bone trousers, and a Joie cashmere vest over a Ports 1961 white pointelle cashmere sweater, punctuated by Chanel earrings, a Chanel handbag, and a Jeri Cohen diamond bracelet. ("They let me borrow it, and now I can't take it off," Lively says mischievously.)

Gossip Girl Giveaway!!!

Bonjour, my pretties. Long time, no blog. Miss me?

After spending the holiday weekend in Seattle, I made it back to Philly just in time for the highly anticipated season premiere of Gossip Girl. The newest eppy “Summer, Kind of Wonderful” delivered the drama, picking right up where season one left off.

If you’re a fan of Gossip Girl, you understand that it’s more than just a television show. It’s a study in style…an Elle editorial personified. The series has some serious fashion cred, as evidenced by its guest appearances. Tonight’s episode featured Tinsley Mortimer (who made a cameo at the white party) and Michael Kors, who will guest in a fashion week-themed episode.

Last week’s giveaway fell through at the last minute…and I feel so awful about it that I pulled out all the stops, this time around. So this week, I’m spoiling you, Gossip Girl style...

Spotted: D hosting a giveaway at SP, in honor of the GG season two premiere!!!

Two lucky readers will each win two haute headbands, courtesy of Colette Malouf, dubbed the “undisputed queen of hair accessories” by New York Magazine.

Her name might not ring a bell, but there’s a good chance you’ve seen her work on Sex and The City, on the runways of Michael Kors and Derek Lam, and on the likes of Oprah, Halle Berry and Anne Hathaway.

The winners will channel their inner queen bees with Colette’s artistic accessories. The Grosgrain Edie Headband (top left) suits Blair, the preppy Park Avenue princess. Steal Serena’s Upper East Side style with the Linen Open Work Headband (bottom left).

Winners will also receive Gossip Girl: The Complete First Season.

Relive the wit, romance, drama, mystery and scandal of season one with this 5-disc, 18-episode set of DVDs that also features:

* Gossip Girl 411 Featurette
* GG Couture Featurette
* A Gossip Girl Wedding Featurette
* Music Videos
* Gag Reel
* FREE downloadable audiobook of Cecily von Ziegesar’s bestselling novel, narrated by Christina Ricci!

To enter, send an email to spoiledprettycontests@gmail.com. Be sure to include your full name. The subject line should read "Gossip Girl Giveaway." The contest ends at midnight (EST) on Sunday, September 7th. Two winners will be chosen at random from among the entrants. On Monday, September 8th, I'll announce the winners' names. Please, only one entry per person; duplicate entries will not increase your chances of winning. Contest is open to U.S. and Canadian residents only.

You know you love me for this one.

xoxo,

Spoiled Pretty girl

Sisterhood of the Gorgeous Gals

Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera and Amber Tamblyn at the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 premiere.

I have a total girl crush on America...usually, she can do no wrong in my eyes. But I must admit that I'm not loving the Amy Winehouse-inspired makeup and hair. However, she redeemed herself with a stunning strapless Brian Reyes dress and Christian Louboutin stilettos. America said, "I'm not sure if people recognized me, but I definitely got some strange looks!"

Blake is resplendent in a tangerine Gucci gown. I'm totally digging the microbraids.

Amber shocked me - and not in a good way - by wearing pants. From the photos, it looks like someone took an old bridesmaids dress and fashioned it into a jumpsuit-esque ensemble. The makeup is meh. And the hair is so boring, I'm falling asleep just looking at it. I mean, I'm sporting the same hairstyle right now...but I'm not at a Hollywood premiere standing next to Serena VanderWoodsen.

Alexis absolutely blew me away with her glowing skin and punchy lip color. This Gilmore girl certainly grew up! Her hair was pulled back in a simple (yet chic) bun, allowing her gorgeous face to take center stage. Check out those baby blues! Alexis gets my vote for best-dressed - she paired her black ribbon-trimmed dress by Mischen with strappy gladiator heels.

90210 No They Didn't

In a brilliant and calculated move, OPI is set to debut a limited-edition nail polish collection inspired by our favorite Beverly Hills spoiled brats. Color details and names have yet to be revealed, but I predict that the Andrea and David shades will be the bombs of the bunch. The line is scheduled to launch in tandem with the 90210 spinoff's fall premiere.

Just my two cents - and kinda off topic: Why CW decided to resurrect 90210 when they already have Gossip Girl is beyond me. There's no way this re-hashed mess can top Blair and Serena's exploits. I'd love to be proved wrong, but I suspect that 90210 (version 2.0) will be little more than a springboard for original cast alums (Shannen Doherty and Jenny Garth) and other washed-up tv stars (yeah, I'm talkin' about you, Lori Loughlin and Rob Estes).

Gossip Girls Love The Smoky Eye

The Gossip Girl gals may not all get along, but there’s one thing they agree on – a smoky eye paired with a soft glossy lip.

My favorite look of the finale belonged to Blair. Normally, the combination of messy updo, braids, and Jennifer Behr Patent Orchid Skinny Headband would spell overkill. But on Blair, it was pitch perfect. Serena and Georgina? Meh.

And while I liked Vanessa’s cascade of curls, her dress was a mess. I mean, if you’re invited to attend high society nuptials, don’t show up in an frock homesewn by your BFF’s little sister. It kinda reminded me of the Gordon Gartrell episode of The Cosby Show…except that, in this case, Nessa had no idea how ridiculous she looked. It’s no wonder Nate called it quits.
