Taylor Lautner's Must Have Hair Products

If you're "Team Jacob," this post is for you...

New Moon
star Taylor Lautner is InStyle's December Man of Style. When the mag asked how he keeps his hair looking so perfect, Taylor answered KMS Hairplay and Redken Rough Paste. Now what I'd really like to know is what this kid is brushing with. I dare you to find me straighter, whiter chompers in Hollywood...natural, I mean; Hillary Duff's chicklet teeth don't count.

Taylor's girlfriend, Taylor Swift, graces the issue's special 3-D cover.

Never Break The Chain (Or The Bank)

In addition to exposed zippers and metal studs, I am seriously smitten with chains.

After seeing this photo of Jennifer Lopez (wearing a Nina Ricci dress and Michael Kors necklace) in the latest issue of InStyle, I decided it was high time I joined the chain gang.

I hit pay dirt the other day when I hit up my local Forever 21. There was a plethora of chain-inspired jewelry...for dirt cheap.

Check out that all I picked up for less than $27!

Matte Nails NOW

As a beauty expert, I have the skinny on which trends are going to blow up come next season. And one that I'm particularly excited about is matte nail polish.

Most of the upcoming matte nail polish formulations haven't yet hit shelves, but that doesn't mean you have to wait until fall to rock the trend. The June issue of In Style Magazine has a great tip:

"Simply use your base coat as a top coat to remove shine from your nail lacquer."

Genius! Thanks, In Style!

If you're hair obsessed (yeah, I'm talkin' to you, Amber), you must pick up InStyle's new hair issue. The mag's 129 pages are chock full of tips, celebrity looks, and product finds from hair pros.

My mane man, Ted Gibson, contributes...which makes this issue an absolute must-read. I love me some him. Check out Ted's blog over at DailyMakeover.com.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick: 12 New Shades!

When I was in college, I worked at the school library - manning the the periodicals counter. I cleverly scheduled my hours for Friday and Saturday evenings, knowing full well that this was when most students were prepping for the parties (gals getting prettified and guys getting their Natty Light-induced buzz on). It was probably a good thing that I worked when no one needed help, as I spent most of my time reading fashion mags instead of brushing up on my microfilm/microfiche assistance abilities.

Where was I going with this back-in-the-day tale? Oh, I remember...I spent almost every cent of my earnings at the local CVS, buying Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick. Yes, I was a makeup fiend even back then.

The Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick line-up has pretty much stayed the same since my undergraduate days. Which is why a Revlon ad in the February 2009 issue on In Style Magazine caught my eye. Jessica Alba is looking quite sultry, wearing a dark crimson on her lips. When I looked to the bottom of the page to find out what shade she had on, it said "Jessica Alba is wearing Super Lustrous Lipstick in Spicy Cinnamon." I was like, huh? Since when does Revlon have a shade called Spicy Cinnamon? Well, since now, apparently.

Twelve new shades have been added to the Super Lustrous family - and can be found at mass-market retailers nationwide.

Lush Lower Lashes

To lash out like the lovely Courteney Cox, InStyle.com recommends wiggling a waterproof, no-flake mascara wand along the roots of lower lashes, then tapping each lash while holding the wand vertically. Wait two minutes, then gently curl lashes with a Sephora Lower Lash Curler.

Which mascara to use? CoverGirl LashBlast, my hands-down new favorite mascara, is now available in a waterproof formula! Lash Blast supersizes and volumizes, with no clumps. I love how it makes me look like “that girl” - you know the one with the ridiculously fab lashes? Yeah, well…that’s me now.

Here’s another lower lash tip: Last month, I had an opportunity to learn some tricks of the trade from CoverGirl celebrity makeup artist, Molly R. Stern. She said that if you wear a slightly lighter shade of mascara on your lower lashes than on your upper lashes (i.e. – very black on top, black on bottom), your wide-eyed look will look more natural. And at $8 a pop, you can afford to splurge and buy two tubes.

Cover Girl Lash Blast Mascara is available at your local drugstore.

Fuchsia lip color is the latest manifestation of Fall’s bold red lip. If you need convincing to try this trend, just check out the magenta mouth on Atonement star Keira Knightley.

To coat the entire surface of your lips, InStyle.com recommends smiling while you apply. “It stretches the lip, exposing every furrow to be filled with pigment.”

Faking It

It’s the weekend before Halloween, which means that many of you will be attending a costume party in the next few days. So whether you decide to dress up as a sexy fill-in-the-blank, or choose to go as a sexier version of yourself – your best accessory is a pair of killer lashes!

The November issue of In Style explains how to choose the right fake lashes:

If you want a subtle effect, wear short lashes, which you can buy or customize by trimming a standard pair. Or opt for a small cluster (three hairs) and apply it only to the outside corner or center of the eye. Ardell DuraLash Naturals Individual Lashes are weightless, permanently curled, waterproof and comfortable.

For a bit of drama, try a medium-length strip made of synthetic material. “It will keep its shape and last longer,” says makeup pro Kristofer Buckle. MAC’s 34 Lash features a long, winged-corner edge.

To go all out, try mink, fox-fur, colorful and rhinestone sprinkled versions. Lash out with Lash Freak Lashes by Hard Candy.

Whichever you choose, you'll be sure to knock 'em dead!

Below, MAC Pro makeup artist Chantel Miller shows how to apply fake eyelashes. Visit Ford Models TV for more great how-to videos.

READERS ASKED: What was your first fragrance?
GWEN SAID: "Love's Baby Soft. Probably because it was the one that I saw over and over again in commercials. I've always been into beauty products. As a kid one of my favorite stores was Sav-On Drugs. I just loved the smell of L'Oréal lipstick."

I Love Lucy

I’ve always liked Lucy Liu, but it was her turn as badass assassin O-Ren Ishii in 2003’s Kill Bill: Vol. 1 that made me sit up and take notice. In October’s issue of In Style, Liu shows us her softer side and lets us peek inside her G-Ahn makeup bag.

In Style: What’ your earliest beauty memory?
Liu: I used to watch my mom put makeup on, and we would go to the five-and-dime store and experiment with whatever makeup was there. It was basically L’Oreal lipstick – which is funny, because I still use it.

In Style: Do you always carry around two different eye liners?
Liu: Yes. The liquid liner is for above the eye, and the pencil is for inside of the eye. But I rarely use the pencil unless I’m going out. If you put liquid liner on during the day and then add pencil to the inner rims at night, it glams it up.

In Style: What about Aquaphor? I’ve heard you’re obsessed.
Liu: I use it for everything. It’s not too glossy, so I wear it when I do movies because it looks really natural. I always carry a mini with me. And if I fall, which I do a lot – I’ll put it on my [scrapes]. When I was shooting a movie in Montreal, it was freezing. If you take a little bit of Aquaphor and dab it on our face, it keeps your skin looking fresh. I dubbed it Aqua for Everything.

Triple Threat

She’s on a hit TV show. She’s an Emmy winner. Her movie, Knocked Up, was a summer blockbuster. The actress recently inked a deal with Coty Inc. to be the face of the first women's fragrance from Nautica. She and her mom just launched a new production company. And this December, she will marry her fiancĂ©, musician Josh Kelley.

Katherine Heigl has a lot going on. And somehow she found time to shoot not one, not two, but three covers for In Style’s October 2007 issue. The star, whom pals call Katie, is the magazine’s first triple-cover girl. Inside this month’s In Style, Heigl “popped out her retainer to talk makeup, breakouts and what boys like.”

The Ingenue
“This is my favorite look of the three because it’s sexy but not overly so,” Heigl says. “I like simple hair and makeup.”

Seventies California chic – whose poster children include Michelle Pheiffer and Cheryl Ladd – was the goal with this shot.

Try: Dior Airflash Spray foundation in Medium Beige, Chantecaille Aquablush in Enchanting, and Nars sheer lipstick in Roman Holiday.

The Vixen
“I’ve always wanted to be a brunette because in a town of blondes, it makes me look a little more exotic – but my producers won’t let me do it!”

Madonna’s Breathless Mahoney and Catherine Zeta-Jones’ Velma Kelly were role models for this look.

Try: Chanel Precision Lip Definer in Red, Serge Lutens lipstick in No.1, and Chanel Inimitable mascara in Noir-Black.

The Bombshell
“I wear my hair up all of the time,” says Heigl. “But it’s hard to find different updos that are flattering and not just the same old thing every time.”

Brigitte Bardot’s sexy coif and Elizabeth Taylor’s smoky eyes were the starting points for our va-va-va-voom moment.

Try: Nars Duo eye shadow in Pandora, MAC Eye Kohl in Smolder, YSL Rouge Pur Shine lipstick in Nude Beige.

Hot Coffee

While perusing the Daily Beauty Flash column at InStyle.com, I was blown away by this photo of Jessica Biel. Granted, her makeup is subtle, yet stunning – but what really caught my eye was the rich espresso hue of her hair color.

"Going with a vibrant dark shade is the perfect way to freshen up your look for fall. And deep colors reflect light better, so your hair will automatically look shiny," says celebrity colorist Tracey Cunningham at John Frieda in L.A.

To prevent fading, choose a shampoo formulated for color-treated tresses and use a color-depositing glaze once a week. Try Frederic Fekkai Technician Shampoo For Dry, Damaged, Color-Treated Hair and John Frieda Luminous Color Glaze.
