Rihanna's 20/20 Frosty Nude Lip Look

On Friday night, I was among the 8.2 million people who watched Rihanna's 20/20 interview. But afterwards, while most people were thinking, "Wow...that Rihanna is so brave to publicly discuss such a horrifying personal tragedy" or "That jackass, Chris Brown, deserves whatever is coming to him" - I was thinking, "What products can I use to copy Rihanna's icy nude lip look?"

So I did what any self-respecting beauty junkie would do. I broke out my lip gloss/lipstick stash and played makeup mad scientist/mixologist. I found that creating Rihanna's 20/20 look is quite easy to do. All you need is a nude lipstick that is lighter than your complexion, and a silver gloss. Be sure to apply foundation to lips before trying this look, as the foundation will help cancel out any pink in your lips and let the lip color stand alone.

Here are some combos that I think would pass RiRi scrutiny:

1) Clinique Different Lipstick in Tenderheart + MAC Dazzleglass in She-Zam
2) MAC Lipstick in Modesty + MAC Dazzleglass in She-Zam
3) Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss Stick in Nude Almond + MAC Dazzleglass in She-Zam
4) Julie Hewett Lipstick in Biba + MAC Dazzleglass in She-Zam
5) Victoria's Secret Sheer Gloss Stick in Exposed + MAC Dazzleglass in She-Zam
6) Benefit Full-Finish Lipstick in Lady's Choice + MAC Dazzleglass in She-Zam
7) Urban Decay Lipstick in Midnight Cowboy + MAC Dazzleglass in She-Zam
8) This is just to show what MAC Dazzleglass in She-Zam looks like on its own

Not satisfied with Rihanna's lippie recipe? Want to cop her cafe au lait nails too? Try OPI Barefoot in Barcelona.

Rihanna Shaves Her Head...Part Of It, Anyway

In case you hadn't heard/seen, Rihanna pulled a Cassie and shaved the sides and back of her head. I have to admit that she looks badass rocking the hawk, but that grow-out phase is gonna be awkward.

For Best Use Of Hair Accessories, The Award Goes To Rihanna

For best use of hair accessories, the award goes to Rihanna. RiRi would like to thank the academy...Star Academy, that is.

On Friday night's season finale of the French singing competition, Rihanna accessorized her faux hawk with a halo of Swarovski crystal hair pins.

The looks that Rihanna (or her stylist) comes up with boggles the mind.

You don't need a superstar budget to recreate this look. These rhinestone hair pins (above left) are only $20 for a set of six at Beautiful Bridal (I purchased my bridal tiara via this online retailer and was beyond pleased).

Recessionista's Fabuless Pick of the Week: CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain

Remember how I told you that CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain wouldn't be available until January 2009? Well, I lied. Not on purpose though...I'd never intentionally deceive you. You see, CoverGirl Outlast Lipstains will make their way to mass-market retail outlets nationwide starting next month, but Drugstore.com is giving you an early Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa present...cuz you can get your lips on them today!!!

I've had these babies in my possession for the past few weeks, and I'm enamored. Since I was afforded a sneak peek of the product, I have had them on my person at all times. I've worn at least one of the shades everyday since they arrived on my doorstep. I am an equal opportunity beauty addict and I give most anything a chance - so when I enter into a monogamous relationship with a product, it means a lot. CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

The water-based colorants infuse into the top layer of lips, rather than coat the outside...so there's no waxy, sticky residue. The formula contains conditioners (like glycerine and hyaluronic acid) to soften and smooth lips, and Outlast is one of the few stains that doesn't contain alcohol, which can be drying. The felt tip allows for precise application, and the stain can be layered to achieve a sheer or more opaque look. Finally, it lasts for 6+ hours...so you're looking pretty all day long without touchups (but it comes off easily with facial cleanser or makeup remover).

P&G Global Creative Design Director, Pat McGrath, created a palette of ten brilliant shades that deliver a flush of color to the lips: Berry Smooch, Bit of Blossom, Cinnamon Smile, Coy Coral, Everbloom Kiss, Flirty Nude, Plum Pout, Sassy Mauve, Teasing Blush, and Wild Berry Wink. "Over the last few seasons, lipstain has emerged as a key beauty trend on fashion runways," says McGrath. "The CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain collection is one step ahead of the curve with its novel pen applicator and prestige color palette. It's a great way to update your look and stay on top of the latest runway trends."

My personal fave is Sassy Mauve. I wear it almost everyday for that snow bunny, me-but-cuter look. Top it with a clear gloss for a little kick, and you're good to go. I like it so much, I probably should put a ring on it. First runner-up is Wild Berry Wink. On Saturday, I applied two coats followed by a few swipes of clear gloss - and I swore I was Rihanna in her latest video. I might need rehab, considering how addicted I've become to this sexy shade.

Buy these now, ladies. I swear you won't be disappointed. They're holy grail material. And at $7.50 a pop, they're this recessionista's fabuless pick of the week!

Rihanna Fierce

Last night, my sis emailed me the link to Rihanna's Rehab video. After watching it, I was like, "Sasha who? Beyonce can wear all the Gareth Pugh she wants to...this girl is FIERCE."

I have to admit that the music vid plot lacks imagination. Truthfully, I could have written a better script. But who needs a story when you have Miss RiRi and Timberlake steaming up the desert? And her makeup...flawless! It don't get no better than the kohl-rimmed eye/crimson lip combo she sports in this video.

Rihanna Dashes Outta Dashing Diva With Wet Nails

Last Thursday, nail trendsetter Rihanna got a white hot mani/pedi at the 8th Street Dashing Diva nail salon. Girlfriend is a gal on the go - as you can see, she dashed out of Dashing Diva with wet toenails.

Rihanna at BET Awards: Yellow Fever!

Rihanna is a ray of sunshine in a Giambattista Valli gown. Her eye makeup is perfection, but I can't say that I'm loving the matte metlot shade on her lips.

Thoughts?

Rihanna’s On The Cover Of Elle (Ella Ella Eh Eh Eh)

Rihanna, my favorite Bajan bombshell, is Elle’s June cover girl.

Her interview with the mag runs the gamut. Lighthearted topics include the decision to cut her hair and singing in front of Jay Z for the first time. The interview turns more serious, when she opens up about her once-strained relationship with an alcoholic father.

Plus, Rihanna hints about whether Chris Brown is the one standing under her umbrella.

And check out exclusive behind-the-scenes video from the cover shoot.

The June 2008 issue is on newsstands now.

Rihanna's On The Cutting Edge Of Style

The R&B princess debuted a new pixie hairstyle at the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes, France on Saturday.

What inspired her to make the cut? At the October photo shoot for Allure’s January 2008 cover, Allure’s Creative Director, Paul Cavaco, suggested that – for her next look – she channel old-school Linda Evangelista.

Looks like she took his advice.

Speaking of Linda E. - here's an oldie, but a goodie. Enjoy!

Rihanna Inspired By Charlize, Not Posh

Don’t lump Rihanna in with the all those celebs knocking off the 'Pob' (Victoria Beckham’s ubiquitous hairstyle).

In the January issue of Allure, the R&B star reveals that her edgy 'do was actually inspired by Charlize Theron’s haircut in the action film Aeon Flux. Without getting permission from her record label, she “asked hairstylist Ursula Stephen to chop off her hair and dye it raven black in her L.A. hotel room.”

To get the Good Girl Gone Bad look, pick up the following Cover Girl products (Rihanna is the company spokesperson):

*Cover Girl LineExact Liquid Liner in Very Black
*Cover Girl Eye Enhancers in Tapestry Taupe
*Cover Girl TruBlend Naturally Luminous Blush in Pure Romance Cover Girl
*Wetslicks Fruit Spritzers Lipgloss in Berry Splash
