Superbowl Spa Day at Bliss
On Sunday, the Arizona Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers will meet in Tampa Bay for Superbowl XLIII.
If you’re a fan of either team, you could wear your team pride on your fingernails - with fun nail decals like these. Or you could take a page from this uber-fan’s playbook - and take the “tramp stamp” to a whole nuther level.
Classy.
If you’re bitter - like me - because your team won't play on Sunday (my Philadelphia Eagles choked in the NFC Championship Game*) or don’t give a kitty about football at all, Bliss has some great alternative activities planned…

I Can See Clearly Now, The Acne’s (Almost) Gone
It is with wholehearted exuberance that I recommend Philosophy’s On A Clear Day products for all of you complexionally challenged readers out there.
After months of feeling defeated by my adult acne, I decided enough was enough; it was time for me to take back my skin. Problem is, the dead of winter isn’t the best time to be messing around with an acne regimen that can strip already desiccated skin.
Most acne products leave my skin so flaky that it looks like my face has dandruff. No joke…like I’m molting. So when I heard about Philosophy’s new On A Clear Day line, I felt compelled to sacrifice my face in the name of beauty. Philosophy has never done me wrong before, so I decided to take a gamble. And, let me tell you, this one paid off with rich dividends.
After only testing the system for five days, my skin was significantly clearer and brighter - with no drying whatsoever! I couldn’t believe that acne products this gentle could yield such noticeable results, in less than a week.
What I love most about the On A Clear Day line is that the products (Oil-Free Foaming Acne Cleanser, Oil-Free Spot Treatment, Oil-Free All Over Acne Treatment, and Retinol Clarifying Lotion) are all meant to be used once in the morning and again at night. The fact that this system is my AM and PM ritual makes it super easy for me to use the products consistently, which is the reason why I’ve noticed such amazing and immediate results.
Sold separately, the products cost between $18 and $40...but I wouldn’t recommend purchasing a la carte. Do your wallet a favor and pick up the Completely Clear Skin System, which includes the four full-sized products and costs $65. If you’re feeling extra frugal, Sephora sells a quartet of smaller sizes for $35.
This past weekend while shopping at Sephora, I noticed a woman holding the Completely Clear Skin System. She was intently reading the box, with a somewhat cynical look on her face. I brazenly tapped her on the shoulder and insisted she put the box in her basket and march on over to the register. That’s how impressed I am with On A Clear Day…I’m in the store pimping out the products like I’ve got stock in the company.
Considering the results this line delivers, maybe buying stock isn’t such a bad idea.

Ideeli’s Surprise Gucci Sale - Friday, January 30th!
From the '30s to the '80s, Gucci built a reputation for craftsmanship, innovation and, above all, style. Fashion icons from Jackie Kennedy to Elizabeth Taylor to Princess Diana draped themselves in printed scarves, bamboo-trimmed bags and interlocking double G logos. In 1994, when actor-turned-designer "it" boy Tom Ford took the reins as Gucci's Creative Director, he turned up the heat with styles that radiated pure, unbridled sex appeal. The sleek-yet-feminine styling creates handbags that are decidedly hot but don't lose their cool, which is perhaps the sexiest combination of all.
Prices start as $135

Kim Kardashian's Tips For Making Makeup Last
On her blog, Kim Kardashian shares a few tips on making your makeup last and keeping it looking fresh all day:
It's definitely hard to keep up your makeup all day. I touch up throughout the day. Using a primer always helps keep the foundation fresh. I use Smashbox primer.
I keep a translucent powder with me in my purse and put it on with a blush brush to get rid of the foundation getting oily.
In order to keep your eyeshadow on all day, apply a MAC paint to the lid then apply shadow on top!
The key to fresh makeup is just bringing the essentials with you to touch up throughout the day!

The Skin Diva Catches The Attention of The Philadelphia Inquirer
Remember last week when I told you about Linda Harding's Hit The Ground Running esthetician's workshop? Well, the Philadelphia Inquirer got wind of her genius idea and featured her in yesterday's newspaper.
Linda emailed me with the link, and here's the hilarious thing...my beauty obsessed aunt (who introduced me to the Schick Intuition razor and who recently treated me to a "day of wellness" at Terme Di Aroma spa) is quoted in the article.
Small world, right?

Uncommon Giveaway: Drugstore.com and Beauty.com Want To Spoil You With Celeb Swag Bags!
For the second year in a row, online retailers drugstore.com and Beauty.com participated in Village at the Yard, the must-attended gifting lounge to see and be seen at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
Drugstore.com created an “Uncommon Giving Lounge” stocked with Sundance Film Festival essentials like cold medicine, pain relievers, lip balms and hand and face lotion, while partner site Beauty.com offered prestige makeup and skincare products. Whether celebrities forgot to pack something for their trip or didn’t think about everything they would actually need once they got to Sundance – A-listers including Susan Sarandon, Jill Hennessey, Lisa Kudrow, Emmy Rossum, Brittany Snow and Emma Roberts flocked to Uncommon Giving Lounge to pick up items such as Advil, Airborne, Mission lip balm, Stila bronzer, Anastasia brow kits and special Beauty.com designer collaboration bags from Shoshanna and Lela Rose.
Celebrities and other VIP guests also had the opportunity to shop the sites on the spot to order items they want to be waiting on their doorstops when they get back home. And, in the spirit of giving, drugstore.com also donated some much needed essentials – including humidifiers, sun care and first aid supplies – to the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps, the world’s largest family of camps for children with serious medical conditions.
This week at Spoiled Pretty, I’m joining forces with drugstore.com and Beauty.com for an Uncommon Giveaway. Five readers will get the celebrity treatment and will win Beauty.com/drugstore.com pharmacy bags, just like the ones gifted to the stars!
The pharmacy bags are chock full of the following samples:

Decorate Your Lady Parts With 24-Karat Gold and Crystals This Valentine’s Day
This Valentine’s Day, how will you spoil your honey? Candy is so trite and massage oils stain the sheets. Wanna give a gift that your sweetie has never seen? Try the Opulent Bikini Wax with 24 karat gold and Swarovski Crystals from Completely Bare.
Yes, you heard me right. Completely Bare wants to bedazzle your naughty bits.
The Completely Bare Opulent Bikini Wax is the hottest way to add flare – down there. Once an exclusive service provided by completely bare’s Bond Street location, the Opulent Bikini Wax is now available at all Completely Bare locations. The lavish treatment includes a Completely Bare wax followed by a 24-karat gold spray to give your smooth skin extra shimmer. Next, Swarovski crystals are individually applied by hand to create your look of choice. In celebration of Valentine’s Day, Completely Bare is offering two limited edition designs: a red Swarovski Crystal Heart design or your significant other’s initials.
No Valentine’s Day date? Completely Bare offers sorry singletons the Opulent Bikini Wax in two other design options: a broken heart or skull and crossbones.
Broken heart or skull and crossbones? That was way harsh, Tai. Why not "Spinster" or "Cat Lady" spelled out in crystals? I guess that would be hitting below the belt.
To schedule a blinged out bikini wax, check out Completely Bare's spa locations.
Keira Knightley At Chanel Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2009 Show
Keira Knightley loves herself some Chanel. Today, the spokeswoman attended the Chanel Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2009 wearing a Chanel ensemble - and products from Chanel Beauté.
Makeup artist Kay Montano dishes on the inspiration behind Keira’s classic look:
"Keira is such a classic beauty and was wearing a very chic simple Chanel black high neck top and a classic tweed skirt so I decided her make-up look should be very ingénue in contrast to her traditional attire. Keira also has a cool fringe a la Jane Birkin which frames her beautiful eyes so I decided to use her eyes as the focus."
Kay kept Keira's skin very translucent looking with sheer foundation Vitalumiere in Clair followed by a very light dusting of Poudre Universelle Compacte in Beige to give her skin a soft matte texture. Kay then suggested a chocolate plum eye courtesy of Quadra Eye Shadow in Mystic Eyes over a liberal smudging of Intense Eye Pencil in Ambre. The eyes were completed with Automatic Liquid Eyeliner next to the top lashes, edging to a 'rock' version of the classic tick plus lashings of Exceptionnel de Chanel Mascara in Smoky Noir. Powder Blush in Fandango was brushed on the cheeks to give a natural flush. Lips were given a modern retro look with a light slick of Levres Signées Chanel Satin Lip Cream Palette.

Delight – Bubblegum Pink
Joy – Mauve Shimmer
Magical – Metallic Bronze
Passion – Gilded Gold
Poetic – Coral with Gold Flecks
I don't know about you, but I think it's so refreshing that China Glaze decided against the clichéd Valentine's Day color palette. If I see one more brand pushing red and pink foil hearts floating in a bottle of clear lacquer, I'm going to scream.
As the name implies, these shades are romantic and whimsical, but the chrometastic finish gives them edge. The formula is pigment-rich, so you really only need one coat; however, metallics tend to highlight every ridge in the nail, so you would be smart to buff and/or apply a base coat, pre-polish.
My current faves are Magical and Joy. Speaking of Joy, I'd better keep this one away from Mama Spoiled Pretty (also named Joy) before she starts begging. Mom loves a purple polish, and she somehow manages to relieve me of almost every plum, grape and eggplanty shade that comes into my possession. But she did "bring me into this world" and "never let me want for anything" - so I suppose I could share.
While we're on the topic of sharing...I'm pleased to announce that this week, Spoiled Pretty is teaming up with China Glaze for a romantical giveaway. Two sets of Romantique are up for grabs!!!

David Babaii Shares His Tips For Achieving Angelina Jolie's SAG 2009 Hair
Celebrity hair stylist and co-founder of David Babaii for WildAid, David Babaii, shares his tips for re-creating Angelina Jolie’s SAG 2009 do.
To capture Angelina's effortlessly elegant style, hairstylist David Babaii blow dried wet tresses to create a shiny, frizz free foundation. Next, he randomly curled her entire chocolate mane to form beautifully tousled waves. To ensure volume at the root area, spray David Babaii for WildAid Volcanic Ash Root Amplifier. Slightly back comb sections of hair and smooth out with a brush to achieve desired height. Create a low bun at the nape of the neck by gathering sections of curls and securing with black bobby pins. Finish with David Babaii for WildAid Mise En Plis Extra Hold Styling Spray for a dazzling red carpet style.
David Babaii works with Hollywood A-listers like Angelina Jolie, Uma Thurman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Nicole Kidman, and Scarlet Johansson, among others, and has most recently partnered with Kate Hudson on their eco-friendly hair care and styling collection, David Babaii for WildAid. David’s styles have been featured on over 100 major fashion covers, including InStyle, Vogue, ELLE, Allure, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, and Harper’s Bazaar.

SAG Awards Beauty: America Ferrera
This year at the 15th Annual SAG Awards, America Ferrera’s makeup was inspired by her Vera Wang beige chiffon gown. Makeup artist Linda Hay wanted America's makeup to have a fresh and romantic feel, yet very modern to compliment the gentle nature of her dreamy gown - so she decided on a very simple eye, a peachy cheek and a deep red lip.
Linda began creating her look by lightly evening out America’s complexion using YSL's Touche Eclat where necessary, around the eyes, the nose and the corners of the mouth, followed by a light dusting of powder. She then applied Shu Uemura’s "Peche" directly to the apple of the cheek for a fresh, youthful look.
For the eyes, she drew a fine line on the top eyelid with Jouer Eye Definer in Mure. Using a large flat eye brush, Linda gently swept a shimmering white shadow from Cle de Peau #14 Eye Color Quad, across the entire lid, up and into the brow. With a smaller pointed eye brush she lined the silver shadow from the same palette to the bottom lid and from the inside corner to the outside corner of the eye. The inside of the eye was lined with Jouer Eye Clarifier in Clair. Finally, Linda applied three generous coats of Chanel mascara to both top and bottom lashes. The brow was strong and well defined using Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Kit. On the Lips, Linda used MAC Viva Glam Lipstick.

How To Be A Curly Girl Like Kim Kardashian
On her blog, Kim Kardashian answers some beauty-related fan mail. When asked about the curling iron she used to create her inauguration night look (see above), Kim responded:
I use Hot Tools curling irons. They have a bunch of different sizes. If you want smaller, tighter curls, go with a smaller iron. If you want bigger, sexy curls, go with a larger one! Since your hair is so long, I'd suggest you use their 2-inch model for bigger waves! Happy hairstyling!

Chanel Iman Talks To Page Six Magazine About Diversity - Or Rather A Lack Thereof
Chanel Iman strikes a pose for the cover of Page Six Magazine.
Don't underestimate Chanel Iman; she's not just a pretty face. In her interview with Page Six, Chanel Iman speaks frankly (and intelligently) about the lack of diversity on runaways and magazine covers:
"It's not just black girls. It's ethnic girls in general: Brazilian girls, Hispanic. You really don't see a lot of Asians either. A lot of designers think that if every girl on the runway looks exactly alike, then people will come to the shows and buy the clothes because they won't be focusing on the models. So they're scared to use ethnic girls from all over the world because people would focus on [the models] - 'Oh my god, she's so beautiful. Look at her face!' - and not on the clothes," Chanel says. "It's not even just runway either…us ethnic girls should be getting a lot of the covers too! I would love to be on half of the campaigns these [white] girls are booking, all looking exactly alike. It's not right. It's not fair."

CORALista Giveaway, Sponsored by Benefit Cosmetics
When you look in the mirror, does your face look like it could use a vacay?
Take a tropical pleasure trip with Benefit's CORALista. Sweep this blush onto cheeks to wake up your complexion and put a smile on your face.
On Saturday, CORALista met TIREDista (that would be me) - and I found this warm coral pink blush to be the perfect antidote to the dreaded winter pallor. And yes, even brown girls can look anemic...lately I've been looking particularly pale, a la Dead Presidents.
CORALista is oh so flattering and goes on sheer - so you have to be really heavy-handed to overdo it. To apply, swirl the brush in the box & blow off excess. Smile and brush lightly across the apples of your cheeks, starting from the hairline and working in.
CORALista retails for $28...but one of you is gonna get lucky because Spoiled Pretty is partnering with Benefit to give away one CORALista, pro bono.
To enter, send an email to spoiledprettycontests@gmail.com. Be sure to include your full name and mailing address. The subject line should read "Benefit CORALista Giveaway." The contest ends at midnight (EST) on Sunday, February 1st. One winner will be chosen at random from among the entrants. On Monday, February 2nd, I'll announce the winner's name. Please, only one entry per person; duplicate entries will not increase your chances of winning. Contest is open to U.S. and Canadian residents only.

While shopping up a storm at the King of Prussia mall this weekend, I spied these to-die-for boots in the Kenneth Cole store. Originally $265, they're marked down to $47.99. Can you believe?
Unfortunately, they didn't have my size. I checked online, but the stock is limited there too.
If you wear a size 10, please buy these boots. They need a nice home.

SAG Awards Beauty: Angelina Jolie
Angelina looked stunning in a dark, navy blue Max Azria gown. Celebrity makeup artist Mary Burton wanted to create a 60’s look and chose to focus on Angelina’s eyes by applying lots of eyeliner and mascara. She used Lancôme Artliner in Noir just above the lash line. To compliment Angelina’s eye color and to make her eyes really stand out, she applied a bluish grey eyeshadow - YSL Ombre Solo Double Effect Eyeshadow in #3 Silk Blue - to the eyelid. Finally, she applied several coats of Lancôme Courbe Virtuôse Mascara in Black. Mary added a touch of pink to the apples of Angie's cheeks using Shu Uemura blush in M Pink 31. To create ultra-shiny and luminous lips, Mary used Lancôme Color Fever Gloss in Rose Jolie, natch.

SAG Awards Beauty: Anne Hathaway
For the 2009 Screen Actors Guild Awards, Anne Hathaway donned a beautiful white Grecian-inspired dress with gold detail at the neckline and waist. Celebrity makeup artist Kate Lee created a dramatic smokey eye by applying dark eyeliner to the upper lash line and blended it on the eyelid.
To make Anne’s eyes pop, she applied several coats of Lancôme Ôscillation Mascara in Black for a faux-lash effect. Kate opted for a soft, stained pout. She applied Lancôme Le Lipstique lip liner in Sheer Natural to the entire lip, then coated the lips with Lancôme Color Fever Gloss in Seductive for a glossy finish.

SAG Awards Beauty: Kate Winslet
This year at the 15th Annual SAG Awards, Best Supporting Actress winner Kate Winslet accessorized her gorgeous Narciso Rodriguez gown and dazzling Chopard jewels with a little help from Fekkai, Lancome, Avon and Serge Lutens.
Kate's glamorous low bun and side swept bang were created by Frederic Fekkai stylist Renato Campora using Fekkai products. To get the look, apply More All Day Density Styling Whip to wet hair for added volume. On the bottom portion only apply Coiff Magnifique Ultra-Light Finishing Creme to ends for a smooth blowout and to protect hair from the heat of styling tools. Using the Large Round Brush, blow dry hair and part on the right side. Once completely dry, use a one inch curling iron throughout hair to create tousled movement with dimension. Apply Technician Glaze to ends working it through with fingers for texture that is not too heavy. Tease the top of the head - ever so slightly - to create a touch of height. Next pull hair back into a low ponytail. Create a loose braid and twist it around to form a bun. Secure with pins. Making a braid helps to keep the bun from appearing to severe and gives it the soft modern touch.
Celebrity makeup artist Jillian Dempsey played up Kate’s eyes with lots of black eyeliner, mascara and shimmering shadow paired with a soft neutral palette on her lips and cheeks. Jillian used Lancôme Artliner in Noir on the upper lash line and then lightly dusted Jillian Dempsey Professional for Avon Eyeshadow Trio in Pebble Wash on the eyelid. She finished the eyes with a few coats of Lancôme Ôscillation Mascara in Black. For the lips, she used Serge Lutens nude lip liner and filled in the entire lip. Finally, she applied Color Fever Gloss in Engaging, a very sheer nude shade, for a high-shine pout.

Hand Cream and Happy Memories
I have heard the sense of smell referred to as the 'most memorative' of the five senses, because the part of the brain responsible for our sense of smell (the limbic system) is related to feelings and memory.
So I shouldn’t have been surprised when one whiff of Juara’s Candlenut Hand and Body Balm transported me back in time twenty-one years, when I held my baby sister for the very first time. It’s so strange and amazing how that memory, long buried in the recesses of my mind, came flooding back thanks to lotion! I don’t know what my newborn baby sister and Candlenut Hand and Body Balm have in common, but it’s something powerful. Something I can’t shake. It astounds me that I can’t remember what I wore to work three days ago and I don’t know what I ate for dinner last Friday, but I can clearly recall Lauren’s soft and clean scent when she was just a few hours old.
Every time my hands get dry and I smooth on Candlenut Hand and Body Balm, I smile. Not just because the scent summons a very happy memory; but also because the rich formula deeply nourishes my winter-ravaged hands and leaves them soft and supple, with a velvety finish.
Juara products are available in select stores and at juaraskincare.com.

Back From My Trip To Macy's - Allow Me To Vent
So I'm at Macy's, trying to get some separates for work and for Fashion Week, which is creeping up on my at an alarming speed. Anyway, I've got an armful of stylish possibilities and I'm in a good mood because there's an awesome sale going down - and just as I walk into the fitting room, I hear a shriek behind me. "Ma'am...ma'am. Excuse me, ma'am...wait! How many items do you have there?!?!?"
I turn around to face the bane of my existence - the fitting room police. I told her I had seven pieces. Then she told me that Macy's only allows six garments in the room, at a time. She further explained that I had to leave one garment on the rack outside of the changing rooms and that I must hang up everything after I was finished and place them on the aforementioned rack before exiting the fitting room.
Now, I realize that this is store protocol - but way to put me through the ringer, lady, when I only had one extra garment. And while I'm on the topic, I'm gonna tell you how I really feel...
I HATE THE FITTING ROOMS AT MACYS!!!
I'm sure that there are some very nice people who monitor the dressing rooms at Macy's - but, unfortunately for me, the dressing room patrol at my local Macy's stores are the evilest people ever. Everytime I've got an armful of clothes, they're hawk-eyeing me...just waiting for me to make a break for the fitting room, so that they can unload their attitude on me.
And even when I only have a few pieces in my hands, once I get near the dressing room, I'm stopped and given a hard time. It's gotten so bad and I've become so annoyed that I usually wait until the coast is clear and all salespeople are out of sight before making a beeline for the fitting room (while the Mission Impossible song runs through my head). But 75% of the time, I'm apprehended...and harrassed about hanging up my clothes when I'm done.
Instead of biting my tongue and smiling/nodding in agreement, one of these days I'm going to respond with something like this: "Mama Spoiled Pretty raised me right. I hang up my clothes and place them on the rack, without being asked. Not because you're pestering me about it, but because I have manners. So remember my face and stop going all bridge troll on me everytime I'm in here. Thank you."
I mean, dang. I only shop at two Macy's. And the petites department is the size of a shoe box. You'd think they'd know me by now.
Is it so wrong to want to be left alone? I've got money to spend in your store and all I'm asking is to be allowed to enjoy the shopping experience without having some saleslady go all apesh*t on me.
So for all of you heffas who are trashing the fitting rooms like you're some sorta rock star - and ruining the fun for the rest of us...well, quit it. Learn some manners, or I'm going to send Mama Spoiled Pretty after you.
The only thing I don't hate about the Macy's dressing room is the price checker thingy by the fitting room door. I actually love that. I love learning how much money I'm gonna save, without having to do math. Yay, price checker things!
