Question Answered! Ask HitomiNeko! K Drama

Hi Lovlies! This entry I will answer a question that was asked in my “ Ask HitomiNeko” Column. You can see it in my previous entry & also on my side bar, that you can enter a question, submit it anonymously & I will answer it! Of course, anonymously or not, I will try my best to answer all the questions ^^

Question: What K Drama are you watching?

Hitomi’s Answer:
This is a good question, since it’s probably obvious that I am addicted to dramas & movies. Well, I actually have not watch any Korean drama for a long time. Also, I probably only watched three korean dramas. The one that was more memorable from the two was : “ Sorry, I love you”

I heard that typical dramas always have a sad ending & well, for this drama... I guess it was just sad the whole time because the guy got a bullet in his brain & was just waiting to die. I don’t think he was looking for love even though he craved it & despite the fact that he’s dying, he couldn’t get away from her. I watched this couple years ago, so I don’t remember too much details, but it has all the drama you want: dying love, bad guy with good girl, triangle relationships...

The most memorable part for me was when the girl finally admits she loves him. It made me cry because the plot really built up the foundation of their relationship. When she says she loves him, it really feels real.

So there you have it, my Korean Drama recommendation! ^^

Would you watch it? What drama do you recommend?

Makeup Mondays With Mario: Tips For Lasses With Glasses

Celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic is answering your burning beauty questions!!! Every Monday, he will answer a beauty/skin care question as part of a weekly column on Spoiled Pretty, Makeup Mondays with Mario.

Hi Mario,

I'm a makeup junkie and a big fan of yours - so this is very exciting being able to ask you a question personally. Anyway, here's my problem. I wear glasses and I need advice on wearing eye makeup. I think my eyes are my best feature, so I want to show them off. But I don't want to go so heavy that my glasses will magnify everything and make me look crazy. Do you have any tips? Thanks!

-Tanya

Thank you, Tanya!  This is a good question that I don't get asked often about so I'm glad to help!  I'll start out by saying that if you wear glasses, you should look and feel equally beautiful as when you're not wearing them.  A nice pair of glasses can even lift the eyes and face if the shape points towards the outer corners and isn't too round.

Keep the eye makeup simple because, like you mentioned, everything tends to look magnified. Magnified lashes could be gorgeous - but flecks of glitter or super shimmery shadow in the crease?  Not so gorgeous. Use natural tones that suit your eye and skin tone and stick with textures that are matte or satin-like. I love a nicely drawn line on the upper lid for definition and it's important to curl the lashes and apply and even coat of mascara to top and bottom lashes.

Eyebrows should be groomed and filled in - if needed - as well. You can really have a good time trying on different pairs of frames in colors that flatter your makeup and skin tone. Another look I really love is a red matte lip paired with clean eyes and a bit of highlighter on the cheekbones - it's sexy and confident.  What more could you ask for?

Thanks for visiting Makeup Mondays With Mario!

The Man From Nowhere Movie Review

hihi ! This time, I am doing a Korean Movie Review. Which is really rare for me. Usually I don’t like Asian movies that much because the plots are always similar about gangsters & cops, or it would be lame comedy or lame romantic movies. I think this might be the first time that I watch Korean movie though, & I am glad that I watched it!

The beginning of the movie seems like a typical Asian movie flow... it’s still about gangster & cops. But this time the cops are not the main characters & “ the man” have a protected secret that even cops don’t have the access to. Other than the usual money and drugs, this time the children are involved. Which made the movie that much more touching. After watching the movie I do feel a little sad knowing that there must be some children out there who are in the same situation as the children in the movie. It’s not an unbelievable situation.

Overall I rate the movie 4.2 stars. I thought everything was pretty good. There are not much graphic effects which is ok because the fights are not just pure gun shoots but also includes physical fight with knifes; which for me was way more intense than gun shooting scenes. The reason it didn’t get a higher grade from me is because the simple plot. There’s not much mystery but everything flows and make sense. I thought the most interesting part was when “ the man” cut his hair, he looks totally different before & after! Also, he’s pretty hot! hehe

Would you watch this movie?

Makeup Mondays With Mario: Brushes That Won't Break The Bank

Celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic is answering your burning beauty questions!!! Every Monday, he will answer a beauty/skin care question as part of a weekly column on Spoiled Pretty, Makeup Mondays with Mario.

Mario,

How are you? I have been following your work and reading your blog for a couple of years now and you are my go-to guy for anything makeup and beauty related. I noticed in pictures that you have a ton of brushes that seem to be from different brands and I know that good quality brushes are important. Can you please recommend brushes that are good but affordable and preferably from one company? I have a couple of MAC brushes but I can't really afford to buy a whole set right now. Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays!

-Danielle

Hi Danielle,

I totally understand where you're coming from when it comes to brushes being pricy! Finding very good, inexpensive brushes that last long and work well will sometimes require a bit of research. Research and testing takes all the fun out of it so heres my recommendation that I'm certain you will be very happy with. Try Sigma brushes. Sigma is a line of professional brushes that are all high quality and won't break the bank. They offer a bunch of brush sets that you can choose from as well as individual brushes.

Happy Holidays to you as well and thanks for visiting Makeup Mondays With Mario!

Happy New Year, Signs of getting older or wiser?

Happy New Year Everyone! How was your new year? I hope all of you play it safe! There’s always crazy drivers out there on the holidays~ aii~!! Well, I was at my friends house & just had fun talking and eating~ & we were talking about new year resolutions. I was surprised that many of them still have new year resolutions regularly. I thought those are things that people “ get over” with as we age! lolz

So the funny thing was that after the discussion I realize signs of myself getting older.

1) I don’t make empty promises to myself: I remember I used to make a whole list of resolutions every year, & I can’t remember any of them except one. Which was “ stop procrastination” !! & I know all my classmates & I have that same thing on the list! I stop making this resolution when I realize that if I am truly going to change, I don’t need a specific time to change, I will just do it.

2) I start caring about my skin more: I know a lot of girls are more diligent with taking care of their face, starting at a young age, which is of course a good thing. For me, I just never really see much results of anything I used, plus I am not really consistent with products so I feel like every skin product is sort of a waste. However I am now more willing to spend money on skin products & be more consistent with it. I think waiting till I see the my first winkle or black spot to do anything will be too late!

3) I care about my diet more: Whenever I eat something that’s too fattening or rich, my mom will say that “ it’s ok, you’re still young, but I can’t eat it”. If I eat too spicy food, it would sting like hell but my stomach will still be fine. Now, however is not the case anymore. If I eat unhealthy like too rich, too spicy.. it will have an effect on my body. So this year, I will actually have a resolution that I have not made for a long time: which is to eat healthier! Of course this is a life long commitment, not just this year!

4) I like the color red:  For the longest time I like pink & I still love it, but I found myself falling in love with red. I usually don’t like red because I feel like it makes a woman instantly older. For example, I love Scarlett Johansson, we all know she’s very sexy and womanly. When she was 21, I had a hard time imagine that she’s only 21 with that figure & red lipstick!

Few weeks ago, someone commented that I look like I am 18, while that may be flattering I suppose ( since every woman loves to look young) but I feel like looking like my age makes me feel more sexy ~ so I start to wear red lipsticks now~ Instantly makes me more mature & hopefully look more like my age.

no red lips
VS: red lips

5) I agree with my mom more: I am sure all of us had heard from a parents or guardian that “ you will understand when you get older” or experience disagreement with them & feel like they will never understand you because of their “ old ways of thinking”. I don’t totally agree with my mom, I still disagree with her in many ways, but I also realize I agree with her on some levels in ways I never did before. So I guess I just have to say it’s true that “ something you can never understand until you’re older” no matter how mature you are for your age.

That’s all the things I can think so now. Signs of me getting older. haha. or wiser? ( I hope) It’s not always bad to grow up~ I hope you all have a great new year now ^^

So what are your new year resolutions?

ps: do you like my new header? ^^
